About the Bursary Provider
The MacMillan Foundation is a registered non-profit company established by SNAPP Architects to support training, empowerment, and education in architecture. The Foundation focuses on uplifting previously disadvantaged Black women under the age of 35 through bursary support, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing frameworks.
Fields Covered
The bursary supports postgraduate degree studies in Architecture for the 2026 academic year for Black female students enrolled at accredited South African universities.
Bursary Coverage & Selection
The bursary covers one year of study, and payment is made directly to the student’s academic institution upon submission of proof of registration and an academic tax invoice. Final awarding of the bursary depends on final academic results and confirmation of tuition payment. Successful applicants will be contacted by 2 December 2025. Recipients will also need to sign a formal bursary agreement.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Black woman as defined by the RSA B-BBEE Codes
- Studying or intending to study full-time postgraduate Architecture at an accredited South African university
- Under the age of 35 at the time of degree completion
- Strong academic record and financial need
- No criminal record

Required Supporting Documents
- Certified South African ID copy
- Latest academic results or transcript
- Proof of current university account status (paid up or outstanding)
- One letter of recommendation from a university lecturer
- Declaration of any outstanding student debt (if applicable)
- Declaration or affidavit of financial independence from parents (if applicable)
- Optionally: CV or portfolio
Documents must not exceed 10 MB.
Closing Date
Applications must be submitted by 4 November 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
