Siza Water (RF) (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of South African Water Works (SAWW), a proudly South African company managing two 30-year water concessions located in Ballito (Siza Water) and Mbombela (Silulumanzi). Siza Water, based in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, has been providing reliable water services to the Dolphin Coast community since 1999.

Fields of Study Covered

The Siza Water Bursary Programme invites applications for the 2026 academic year from students living in the company’s concession area in the Dolphin Coast region (between Etete and Zimbali). Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:

  • Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Environmental Management
  • Financial Management
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Trades (Electrician, Fitter, Millwright, Plumbing)
  • Water and Sewer Treatment Process Control

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be 21 years or younger
  • Reside in the Siza Water concession area in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • Be studying or intend to study full-time in one of the listed fields
  • Be registered or accepted at a recognised South African institution (university, university of technology, TVET college, or SAQA-approved institution)
  • Have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in 2025
  • Have achieved at least 65% in the relevant subject for the intended field of study
  • Meet the institution’s minimum academic requirements
  • Be in financial need, with a total household income not exceeding R15,000 per month
  • Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged groups, especially female and Black students (African, Coloured, Indian)

Selection Process and Duration

The bursary will cover tuition fees and prescribed textbooks for up to three years, provided the student passes all subjects each year. Recipients must reapply annually by submitting their certified academic results. Shortlisted applicants will undergo a financial review, interview, and assessment. Successful candidates will receive a letter of interest, with final approval granted upon proof of university registration and final results.

What the Bursary Covers

The Siza Water Bursary covers tuition fees and prescribed textbooks. Funding may be renewed annually based on academic performance.
