About the Donor
The Upstream Training Trust (UTT) is a non-profit fund established by the Petroleum Agency SA and licensed oil and gas companies. It aims to build scientific and engineering capacity for South Africa’s upstream petroleum sector by supporting historically disadvantaged students pursuing STEM studies.

- Electrical Engineering
- Geophysics
- Geoscience
- Industrial Engineering

- Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Mechatronics
- Mining Engineering
- Physical Science
Bursary Coverage & Incentives
The bursary provides up to R120,000 to cover:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Textbooks
Additionally, an academic performance bonus is awarded as follows: - 65–69% average → R5,000
- 70–74% average → R10,000
- 75% and above → R15,000
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet these conditions:
- Be a South African citizen
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric, and be enrolled or conditionally accepted at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Studying or planning to study one of the qualifying STEM fields (listed above)
- Have at least a 60% overall pass, with a minimum 65% in Mathematics, Science, and English
- Not be receiving any other bursary or financial assistance
- Preference given to previously disadvantaged students, female applicants, and those interested in the upstream oil and gas industry

- Ensure your application includes all required documents and that they’re certified.
- Applications missing documentation will not be considered.
