  • The candidate must be studying in Matric. Or they must have completed Matric at the time of application.
  • The candidate must be currently studying in or intend to study (full-time/ part-time) towards a construction-related field. It applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
  • The candidate must be studying or registered at a public institution in South Africa. It can be a University, TVET college, or University of Technology.
  • The candidate must pass the eligibility criteria of the institution they want to study in.
  • The candidate must have minimum passing marks in the latest years of their study.
  • The candidate must not be receiving any funding from a CETA-funded institution.
  • The candidate must not be receiving aid from NSFAS or any other scheme.
  • The candidate must not be an immediate family member of the CETA employee.
  • The candidate must prove they will complete their studies.

Preferences will be given to the following candidates.

  • Female candidates currently pursuing education in construction, environment, or related disciplines.
  • Candidates coming from Rural and township areas.
  • Unemployed candidates who are willing to study construction or environment-related disciplines.
  • Candidates with disabilities or military veterans.
  • Candidates with bright academic records. They must not be sponsored by any other program.

Documents Required for the Bursary

Here are a few documents you must submit along with the application form. Make sure you upload clear copies of all the documents. Any missing item can result in disqualification of your application.

  • A South African national ID document (certified copy).
  • Grade 11 latest academic records. It applies to students currently studying in Matric.
  • Matric degree certificate and transcripts. It applies to students already done with Matric qualification.
  • Full tertiary academic records (latest transcripts, certificates, etc). It applies to students currently studying in universities.
  • Proof of acceptance at the tertiary institution. It must be on the institution’s letterhead.
  • Proof of parents/ guardian income. It should be their latest payslips if they are employed. Affidavit if they are unemployed, proof of social grant or pension if applicable, doctors report if permanently disabled, and death certificate if deceased. All the documents should be a certified copy.

University Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)

  • Architecture (BSc/ National Diploma/ Masters/Ph.D.), Building Arts (BA), Civil Engineering (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), Construction Management (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), Construction Economics (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), Construction Studies (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), Geomatics (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), Quantity Surveying (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.), and Urban and Regional Planning (BSc/ Masters/Ph.D.).

University of Technology Students

  • National Diploma in Building, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Quantity Surveying, and Surveying or Ph.D. in Environmental Management, Construction, BIM, and Climate Change Science.

TVET College Students

  • Civil Engineering and Building Construction or equivalent degree (N4-N6), Electrical Engineering or Equivalent (N4-N6), and NCV studies for scarce skill areas.
