What Are The Expenses Covered By DSAC Bursary?

DSAC Bursary helps students cover their studies-related expenses, ensuring that they are free from any financial burden during their studies. The DSAC bursary will grant each student a maximum value of R110,000 and will disburse the funds directly to their respective higher institution of learning. In addition, DSAC also covers the following expenses:

  • The bursary will cover the entire cost of study fees.
  • DSAC Bursary will cover the full expense of the prescribed book.
  • The bursary will also reimburse electronic devices up to R10,000, upon submission of receipts or invoices from three quotations.
  • DSAC Bursary will cover a maximum amount of R50,000 for accommodation (where applicable).
  • For meals, the maximum amount covered is R18,500 (where applicable).
  • R10,000 is the maximum amount for transportation (where applicable).

What are the Eligibility Requirements For DSAC Bursary?

DSAC has set certain requirements for applicants applying for the bursary to ensure eligibility and fair consideration. If applicants fail to meet the criteria, their application will not be considered. Therefore, you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be under the age of 41.
  • The applicant must either be currently in Matric (in 2023) or have already completed Matric.
  • You should be studying or planning to pursue an Undergraduate or Postgraduate qualification in the fields mentioned above.
  • The applicant needs to be enrolled in or provisionally accepted to study at an institution accredited and registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training.
  • You must be academically strong.

Furthermore, keep in mind that the applicant must NOT be currently employed full-time within the private sector, state agencies, or government. In addition, the applicant’s annual income should not exceed R350,000.

  • For Postgraduate students: Progress report from the supervisor if working on a thesis (on university letterhead)
