Overview
Ernst & Young (EY) is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services. The EY Bursary Programme aims to support South African students pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualifications. By providing financial assistance, EY seeks to develop the next generation of leaders in the accounting profession.
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is available for studies towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification at a South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)-accredited university.
Who Can Apply
Matric Applicants:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric or be in the final year of Matric
- Achieve a minimum of four A’s (excluding Life Orientation) in Matric
- Intend to study towards a CA qualification at a SAICA-accredited university
University Applicants:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a CA qualification at a SAICA-accredited university
- Demonstrate strong academic performance
What the Bursary Covers
The EY Bursary Programme offers two types of bursaries:
- Academic Merit Bursary: Covers a portion of tuition fees.
- Academic Merit with Financial Need Bursary: Covers a combination of tuition, accommodation, books, and/or meals.
Application Process
To apply for the EY Bursary Programme:
- Prepare the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified Matric certificate and Grade 11 results
- Certified Grade 12 Term 1 and Term 2 results (for Matric applicants)
- Full academic record (for university applicants)
- Proof of registration or acceptance at a SAICA-accredited university
- Parents’ payslips or affidavit stating proof of unemployment (if applicable)
- Student’s last three months’ bank statement
- Submit your application:
- Combine all documents into a single PDF file.
- Upload the PDF under the “Additional Optional Attachment” tab on the application portal.
Closing Date: 31 October 2025
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
