The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) is a SAQA-recognised professional body serving ICT professionals in South Africa for over 60 years. It is dedicated to:
- Advancing the study and application of ICTs
- Promoting ethical conduct and codes for members
- Defining and promoting ICT knowledge standards
- Supporting effective ICT policy development
- Enhancing ICT awareness and usage in communities
About the IITPSA Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
IITPSA invites students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries are available for undergraduate degree studies in the following fields:
- Applied Computing (BSc)
- Computer Science (BSc)
- Informatics (BCom)
- Information Systems (BCom / BSc)
This bursary aims to grow the South African ICT industry by financially supporting academically strong students in high-demand ICT fields.

The bursary covers:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Exam fees
- Textbooks
- University-administered accommodation
Note: The bursary does not cover any repeat modules or subjects.
Funding is awarded for one academic year at a time and may be renewed annually based on academic performance.
Applicants will undergo a formal selection process that may include interviews and psychometric testing. Financial need will also be considered.
Eligibility Requirements for the IITPSA Bursary
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be studying full-time towards a BSc or BCom degree in one of the listed ICT fields
- Must have achieved a minimum of 65% average in their most recent exams
- Must meet the course’s entry requirements
- Must be enrolled at a recognised public university in South Africa
- Preference will be given to candidates who have participated in the Computer Programming Olympiad
How to Apply for the IITPSA Bursary
Applications must be submitted online through the IITPSA Bursary Application platform.
Required supporting documents:
- Clear head-and-shoulders photograph
- Certified South African ID copy
- Grade 11 final and Matric June results (if in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if completed)
- Full academic record and June 2025 results
- Proof of household income (parents/guardians)
- Death certificates of parents (if applicable)
- Court letter or affidavit regarding child support (if applicable)
