NFVF Bursary Funding Application & Media Studies

One of the most neglected fields in our country is the study of Film and Media due to a number of factors; students cannot afford the high fees of Film courses, most of them are unfamiliar with the Film fields and the Film industry is under growth. An institute is making attempts to promote Film and Media studies, plus it is offering bursaries so students can afford the expenses of their educational programs.

The National Film and Video Foundation has launched a bursary program for Film and Television-related fields students in order to promote the field and assist students to get free education. A person who falls under the eligibility criteria can apply to the bursary program. Its application procedure is a bit complicated but with my guidance, you can apply for the bursary effortlessly and get funding.

What Is NFVF Bursary?

The rising inflation, unemployment and poverty have stopped people from spending money on their education as they are focused on fulfilling their basic needs rather than getting an education. According to the polls, the income of a student in our country is lower than the average income of a citizen of South Africa. That’s why, the majority of students are unable to pursue their degrees.

In the context of all these crises, there is an institute promoting the education of Film and Television related fields in our country. The scope of all media-related fields is extensive in our country and because the Film industry has been experiencing growth for the past few years; therefore the chances to get employment are high in this field. In my opinion, we should pursue degrees different from what most people are studying.

Other bursary programs do not cover transportation expenses, or accommodation charges nor do they provide the textbooks. On the other hand, NFVF Bursary covers the major expenses of a student from his tuition fee to transportation, accommodation, and provides students with study material. Additionally, you can get meals and other facilities if you successfully enroll in this bursary program.

Eligibility Criteria

Majority of the people ignore the importance of eligibility criteria and apply for bursaries or scholarships without giving eligibility conditions a single look. When their applications are rejected, they protest against the institute. Instead of wasting time on all these activities, you should come with me and see the eligibility criteria and if you fall under the category of deserving people then apply for the bursary.

• An applicant must be a citizen of South Africa.
• An applicant must be a resident of South Africa.
• An account must have completed Matric.
• An applicant must be studying or planning to study in the Film or Television industry full-time in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
• An applicant must be studying or planning to study in an institute that is recognized by South African Higher Education and associated with the NFVF.
• An applicant must have a strong academic record in all the past levels.
• An applicant must have obtained 60% grades in the last year or semester if he is studying.
• An applicant must demonstrate financial need.
• An applicant must have a lower income than the yearly threshold of R600,000.
• The institute prefers students who are studying at the public universities in South Africa.

Required Documents

1. You need to provide a certified copy of the ID document.
2. You need to submit a Matric result certificate if completed.
3. You need to submit the recent or current academic result if you are studying in an undergraduate or postgraduate program.
4. You need to provide proof of admission or an acceptance letter given by the institution.
5. You need to break down the annual academic fee on letterhead institutions.
6. You need to submit a motivational letter in which you have explained why you want to study a certain program and a certain course, your future goals and your interests.
7. You need to provide proof of income.
   1. If you are under 21 then provide proof of guardians, parents or spouse income.
   2. If you are 21 or above then provide proof of income, such as payslips or bank statements/ if unemployed then affidavit.
   3. If you are already taking private or public funding then provide a commitment letter.

Application Procedure

The application procedure is a bit challenging for people who have never applied for a bursary before. Therefore, I have divided the entire long procedure into short and convenient to follow steps so you can effortlessly apply for the bursary. Start copying the steps as you advance forward.

Step 1: Go to the official website of NFVF via the link provided below.

Step 2: If you have not created an account when logging in then tap the Click Here To Register Now below the login window.

Step 3: A new page will appear where you can see the empty bars, so provide your personal details and submit the registration form.

Step 4: You will receive an OTP on the provided number, enter it in the bar to verify your identity.

Step 5: Create Username and Password and then go to the main menu.

Step 6: Enter the username in the upper bar and password in the lower one and then click the Login button.

Step 7: The application form will appear, open and then start providing the basic information.

Step 8: Once you have completed the form then upload the required documents I have mentioned above.

Step 9: Submit the application form along with the documents and you will receive a message that your application has been received.

What Expenses NFVF Bursary Program Covers?

1. Tuition Fee: It covers 100% tuition fees of the students enrolled in the NFVF Bursary program.
2. Transportation: It provides an allowance to the students who travel from one city to another in order to get an education.
3. Accommodation: It covers the accommodation expenses, plus provides a living allowance to the enrolled students.
4. Study Material: It provides students with books, research journals and required study material to the enrolled students.
