About the Bursary Provider
South Africa Wine is the national organisation representing wine grape producers, cellars, wine businesses, and wholesalers across the country. As a non-profit, it supports and grows the local wine and brandy industry. The organisation focuses on industry affairs, research and innovation, transformation and skills development, and expanding consumer and market opportunities. South Africa Wine introduced this bursary programme to support students passionate about viticulture, oenology, the wine business, sustainable practices, and future industry skills.

The bursary is open for studies in the following fields, aligned with the needs of the wine industry:
- Agriculture: Cellar Technology (Diploma & BSc)
- Agriculture: Viticulture and Oenology (BSc)
- Agriculture Economics (BSc)
- Agriculture in Oenology (MSc)
- Agriculture in Viticulture (MSc)
- Cellar Technology / Cellar Management (BAgric)
- Microbiology (BSc)
- Other related fields supporting wine industry development
Bursary Coverage & Benefits
The bursary provides tuition fee coverage and additional benefits:
- Hands-on experience and insights from industry experts
- Graduate placements and networking via the South Africa Wine Learner Management System
- Education on innovative and sustainable practices in the wine industry
- Access to wine production courses and teaching guides
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- South African citizen or permanent resident
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Studying or intending to study in one of the listed fields
- Enrolled or planning to enrol at a recognised South African institution
- Passionate and committed to the wine industry
- Not receiving any other bursary, scholarship, or funding
- Currently unemployed
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online via the South Africa Wine Bursary portal. Steps include:
- Enter “bursariesguru.co.za” when asked how you heard about the bursary
- Upload certified copies of the following documents:
- ID document (certified, <3 months old)
- Passport and proof of permanent residence if applicable (certified, <3 months old)
- Matric certificate (certified)
- Academic transcripts if currently studying
- 2025 mid-year results (certified)
- Proof of tertiary registration for 2025
- Proof of residential address (certified, <3 months old)
- Motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
- Estimated 2026 tuition fees (including accommodation, tuition, and study materials)
- Costing breakdown Excel sheet
- Mark’s breakdown Excel sheet
- Affidavit
- POPI Act agreement
- Proof of disability, if applicable (doctor’s note)
All applicants receive an email acknowledgement after submission.
Closing Date
31 October 2025 – applications received after this date will not be considered.
