About the Bursary
For the upcoming academic year, the bursary intends to fund students from Technical Vocational Education and Training Colleges in the Western Cape. The funding is awarded to students from the following study fields.
Electrical Engineering, Business and Management Studies, Education (ECD), Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, Practical Programmes, Construction/ Building & Civil Engineering, Information & Communication Technology, Farming Management, Sports Fitness and management, Performing Arts
Eligibility Criteria
To become eligible for the Access Trust bursary, one must fulfill the following requirements.
- The applicant must be a South African citizen.
- The applicant must be living in the Western Cape, South Africa.
- The applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 28. Please note that younger applicants are given preference.
- The applicant must have completed their matriculation with at least a passing average of 50%.
- The applicant must demonstrate their financial needs.
- The applicant must be enrolled in a post-matriculation course (full-time) in one of the following TVET colleges in Western Cape (College of Cape Town, West Coast College, South Cape College, Boland College, False Bay College, Northlink College).
- The applicant must not be receiving any other bursary at the time of application.
Documents Required
You must attach the following documents when submitting the application.
- Your South African ID document, Refugee status document, or an asylum seeker status proof (certified copy).
- Matric academic results (all transcripts and degree) or other relevant academic history records (certified copy).
- Proof of your parent or guardian’s income (three months’ latest payslips if they are employed, proof of SASSA grant income, or an affidavit if they are unemployed).
- Character certificate referenced by a school teacher or a community leader.
- A motivational letter stating why you should be awarded the bursary, your career plans, what you want to study, and why.
