The Breede Valley Municipality is located in the Western Cape province of South Africa, within the Cape Winelands District Municipality. The bursary is available for students residing within the Breede Valley Municipality and is primarily intended for studies related to local government. However, applications from other fields may also be considered.

Expenses Covered

The bursary provides partial financial assistance, covering registration fees only. Funds will be paid directly into the educational institution’s bank account.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must reside within the Breede Valley Municipality (Rawsonville, Worcester, De Doorns, or Touws River)
  2. Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  3. Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 50% in Matric
  4. Must be studying or intending to study, preferably in a field related to local government
  5. Must be registered or intending to register at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  6. Must not be receiving NSFAS funding or any other bursary
  7. Must support the Municipality’s vision of a unique and caring valley of excellent service delivery, opportunities, and growth

  2. Hard copy forms can also be collected from municipal offices and libraries in:
    • Rawsonville
    • Worcester
    • De Doorns
    • Touws River
  3. Submit clear copies of supporting documentation with your application:
    • Certified copy of ID
    • Matric results (if currently in Matric) or Matric certificate
    • Full tertiary academic record (if currently studying)
    • Proof of tertiary registration
    • Breakdown of study fees, including books
    • Parents/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips, affidavit, bank statements, pension/grant proof, or death certificate)
    • Proof of residence (municipal account)
