About the Bursary Provider – Dorper Wind Farm

Dorper Wind Farm is a renewable energy project in the Eastern Cape that plays an important role in South Africa’s clean energy development. The project was established to utilise the region’s strong wind conditions and produce sustainable electricity for thousands of homes. With an approximate capacity of 100 MW, it helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels and supports national climate goals. The wind farm continues to contribute to the renewable energy sector through long-term community development initiatives.

Fields Covered

The Dorper Wind Farm invites eligible students to apply for the Inkqwithelo Zotshintsho Bursary for the 2026 academic year. The programme is open to residents of Molteno and Sterkstroom in the Eastern Cape and is aimed at supporting studies in teaching, engineering, science, trades, and related fields. The bursary is part of the organisation’s commitment to improving access to education and investing in young people who plan to contribute to community development.

Dorper Wind Farm Bursary Programme – Selection

Shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend an interview. Final selection will be based on the strength of the application and interview performance. Candidates who do not receive feedback within one month after the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful. The programme aims to ensure that selected students demonstrate academic potential, community commitment, and financial need.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be South African citizens living in Molteno or Sterkstroom in the Eastern Cape. They must be in Matric or have already completed Matric at the time of applying. University applicants need to demonstrate a minimum average of 60 percent in required subjects, while students currently at university must also maintain a minimum average of 60 percent for the 2025 academic year. FET or TVET students must show a minimum average of 50 percent in relevant subjects and achieve at least 50 percent in three compulsory vocational modules. Priority will be given to applicants pursuing teaching, engineering, science, trades, or related study fields. All applicants must be accepted or enrolled at a recognised South African tertiary institution, demonstrate financial need, and not be receiving any other bursary. Preference may also be given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and students with disabilities.
