About The Bursary
Gold Circle offers bursaries to deserving students each year as a means to promote their business and make education accessible to qualified, academically bright individuals. It is awarded to students enrolled for the Degree, Diploma, and Certificate studies in the fields that are high priority and critical for the Gold Circle’s continued business.
You can get the entire list of fields from the official Gold Circle announcement brochure. The bursary covers the tuition fees, registration fees, and prescribed textbooks for the duration of the study. Currently, the applications are closed, and anyone submitting their documents to the respective email address will not be entertained.
Gold Circle Bursary Eligibility Criteria
You must fulfill the following qualifications to become eligible for the Gold Circle bursary.
General Criteria for All Applicants
- The candidate must be a South African national.
- The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 35 years.
- The candidate must have completed Matric at the time of application.
- The candidate must have an average minimum of 65% in Mathematics.
- The candidate must be studying in or studying toward a degree certificate, diploma, or certificate.
- The candidate must be studying in or have been accepted at an accredited and recognized tertiary university in South Africa.
- The candidate must have an average minimum of 65% in all modules or subjects completed in the previous semesters. It applies to candidates currently studying at the university.
- The candidate must prove their financial requirements.
Criteria for Non-Employees of Gold Circle
- The candidate must have a gross household income of not more than R180,000 per annum.
- The candidate must provide proof of financial or economic requirements.
- According to the new listing, preference will be given to previously disadvantaged students from certain groups. These groups include black people, Africans, Indians, youth, women, and people with disabilities.
Criteria for Child/ Wads of the Current Employees of Gold Circle
- The candidates must have been employed for at least one year. This employment should be without any breaks.
- The candidate must not have an income of more than R180,000 per annum. This applies to candidates during the time of application.
- The candidates must provide proof of financial challenges they have experienced.
Gold Circle Bursary Application Process
The application process for the Gold Circle bursary is quick and straightforward. However, given that the bursary program is divided between the different groups, each has a different application form. Here is how you can apply for each Gold Circle bursary program.

Documents Required for the Bursary Application
Here are a few documents you should have at the time of application. Any item missing from the list can result in disqualification of your bursary application.
- The South African national ID document (certified copy).
- Matric academic record (Matric degree certificate and transcripts). It should be certified copies of each document.
- Full academic records, including the latest transcripts on the institution’s letterhead. It applies to students currently studying at the university.
- Proof of their acceptance or registration at the tertiary institution. It should be on the institution’s letterhead.
- Proof of physical address (certified copy).
- Bank statement, at least three months recent (certified copy).
- Proof of income. It should be recent payslips if they are employed or the latest financial statements and three-month bank statements if they are self-employed. The documents should be certified copies.
- A motivational letter stating why you deserve the bursary and your academic qualifications.
- A letter of reference from a reliable referee.
- The parent, guardian, or spouse ID documents (certified copy).
- The parents, guardians, or spouses’ proof of income. It should be recent payslips if they are employed, the latest financial slips if they are self-employed, the UI-19 document on the affidavit, and a 3-month bank statement if they are unemployed. All documents should be certified copies.
- The parent, spouse, or guardian’s recent bank statements (3-month recent and certified copy).
- Parent or guardian death certificate, if applicable (certified copy).
- Parent of guardian divorce certificate if applicable (certified copy).
- Sworn affidavit from the parent you are living with if the parent or guardian are separated (Certified copy).
