ILASA is dedicated to advancing and representing the Landscape Architecture profession in South Africa. The Institute is composed of three regional bodies: ILASA Gauteng, ILASA KZN, and ILASA Cape, which work to promote demand for landscape architecture services in both private and public sectors. ILASA is registered with the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession (SACLAP).
Fields of Study Covered
The bursary is open for undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing a Degree in Landscape Architecture at SACLAP-accredited institutions:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
Bursaries are awarded based on academic results, financial need, availability of funds, and ILASA bursary policy.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen or naturalised citizen
- Studying or intending to study towards a Landscape Architecture degree (undergraduate or postgraduate)
- Enrolled at a SACLAP-accredited institution (UCT, UP, CPUT, TUT)
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in the previous year of study
- Demonstrated financial need
- Preference given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary provides partial financial support for:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Residence fees (in exceptional cases)
The maximum bursary amount is R40,000 per student, and funds are paid directly to the relevant tertiary institutions or service providers.

- South African ID (certified copy)
- Parents’/guardians’ ID documents and proof of income (certified copies)
- Official academic record from previous studies (certified copy)
- Proof of offer or acceptance to study at a SACLAP-accredited institution (if available)
- Motivational letter highlighting academic ability, financial need, and future career plans
- South African ID (certified copy)
- Read and agree to the ILASA Bursary Agreement and ILASA Bursary Policy.
Final selection is made by the ILASA NEC, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Successful candidates must keep all original documents for verification.
