The South African National Road Agency Limited (SANRAL) is providing a golden opportunity to get free education to financially deprived students who cannot afford their educational expenses. It covers all the major expenses of a student’s degree, from tuition fees to transportation and accommodation charges.
The bursary covers three major fields; Civil Engineering, Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain Management. All students who scored high in the previous exams and are eager to go get higher education, but unable to pursue their educational career can get a SANRAL bursary. Come with me to learn its application process and see its eligibility criteria.
There is a list of bursaries available for the citizens of South Africa, but not all of them are suitable for you. Some are for a limited time, such as a year or two, while others do not cover all of the expenses. However, the SANRAL Bursary is one of the few bursaries that help you throughout the degree and cover all major expenses.
South Africa is one of the fastest-growing countries in the continent of Africa. It is known for promoting new business trends and tourism; therefore, people from all around the world come to visit our country. But our poor colonial-era infrastructure is a fundamental hurdle to making progress in tourism and prompting business.
In 1998, the government of South Africa formed a body called South African National Roads Agency Limited to improve the infrastructure. However the numbers of civil engineers, human resource management, and workers were lacking, so it launched a bursary program to help poor or lower-middle-class students who want to get an education and a respectable job but are unable to advance forward.
At that time, the financial aid program was for everyone, but with the passage of time, its policies were changed by SANRAL. Today, it is for high-potential intelligent students so they can get higher education and serve the country. It has proper eligibility criteria and an application process, let’s see the eligibility criteria.

Assistance Program
The majority of the people long to get full funding for a Bursery, but not all of us deserve full funds. Basically, the major part of a degree for a student is the tuition fee which is hard to manage; therefore, he applies for a bursary. To provide proper assistance to all students of the SA, SANRAL has launched another program to facilitate students partially.
There are two types of programs in the SANRAL Bursary, the first is for highly deserving people, and the second is known as a partial bursary for students who cannot afford major expenses. Students will receive a bursary according to their financial needs depending on their means test. SANRAL tests the financial need of a candidate by applying the means formula, and if a student demonstrates a higher need compared to another one; he gets full funds.
The purpose of the program is to not only help students but to assist all students equally. Therefore, the program is divided into two classes. However, the SANRAL Bursary will help you throughout all your studying years and provide you with all the basic needs and means to complete your degree.
- Full Bursary: It covers your registration fee, tuition fee, study material, equipment, accommodation, and meals.
- Partial Bursary: It covers your registration and tuition fee, accommodation, and access to the wellness of the program.
SANRAL selects students based on their academic performance and financial needs. If a student has higher marks and low-income status, his chances to get a bursary are higher than a student with low marks and high-income status. The candidates are selected after a successful interview; they receive a confirmation letter from the SANRAL Bursary department.
