Fields Covered
Imerys Refractory Minerals South Africa is inviting applications for its bursary programme for the 2026 academic year. The bursary is open to company employees, children and dependents of employees, and qualifying students who reside in surrounding communities, including Thabazimbi, Skierlik, Smashblock and Northam in Limpopo.
Funding will be provided for degree or diploma studies within the following fields:
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Geology
- Health and Safety
- Production
- Metallurgy
Additional bursaries may be awarded for fields linked to the mining industry, including Accounting, Human Resources, Logistics and Supply Chain. The programme aligns with the company’s learning and development goals and aims to support candidates who show strong academic and career potential.
Imerys Refractory Bursary Programme
All applications are evaluated through a formal selection process, and the final decision rests with the company’s Skills Development Committee. Awards are subject to available budget, compliance requirements and the applicant meeting all eligibility criteria. In some cases, dependents and community recipients may be required to complete experiential learning or workplace service as part of their bursary agreement, depending on company needs.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered:
- You must be an Imerys employee, a dependent of an employee, or a resident of Thabazimbi, Skierlik, Smashblock or Northam.
- You must be in Matric or have already completed Matric.
- You must plan to study towards a qualification in one of the approved fields during 2026.
- You must be accepted or registered at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Preference may be given to candidates from Mashishini, Lydenburg in Mpumalanga.
