About Komatsu Bursary


Komatsu is an internationally recognised manufacturer of mining, construction, earthmoving, and industrial equipment. Established in 1921, the company operates across the world and has built a strong presence in Southern Africa since the early 1960s. Komatsu South Africa continues to support skills development by offering bursaries to talented and motivated students in STEM-related fields. The programme is designed to help students progress academically while contributing to future technical and engineering capacity in the country.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be studying towards a qualification in a STEM field.
  • You must be in your first, second, third, or fourth year of study.
  • You must be registered at an accredited public Higher Education Training institution in South Africa.
  • Preference may be given to students from the Northern Cape, specifically those residing in the Gamagara and Tsantsabane Municipalities. Students from other regions are also encouraged to apply.

Required Documents

Applicants must attach clear and complete copies of the following documents. Missing items may lead to disqualification.

  • A certified copy of your ID
  • Proof of tertiary registration issued on official institution letterhead
  • Full academic record issued on official institution letterhead
  • Proof of residence
